The name of this locality derives from ‘Sausseux’, which meant ‘a place where willows grew’. Over time, the name underwent changes in the local dialect; in the 18th century it was known as ‘Chaucheux’, which became ‘Choicheux’ and is now spelled ‘Chouacheux’.
